When i’m not busy with my VP duties, you can find me at the Cleveland Clinic shadowing the general surgery department , working in my research lab on campus, or studying for my classes. When it’s time to relax, I love spending time with my family and friends and traveling. When I am not busy hanging out with my PhiDE phamily, or working on my VP responsibilities, I can be found working at Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Marysville, OH as a PCA or working at my leasing office helping current and prospective residents. I am also a member of Alpha Xi Delta and enjoy working and spending time with all of the wonderful women I have met there! - About: I started at Kent as a Nursing major and quickly realized my desire to learn as much as possible in order to help my future patients, so I switched after a semester. When I'm not studying or doing PhiDE stuff, I'm either working at the Nursing home, doing Crisis Text Line counseling, traveling somewhere new, at the gym, or hanging out with my friends and family. I've applied to NEOMED's EAP and want to take a gap year to live in a new country before starting Fall of 2022 (hopefully!). I'm excited to serve as this years VP of Programming!

- Medical Interests: I’ve always been driven to help people in whatever way possible. I grew up having both of my parents in the medical field so that atmosphere helped cultivate the man I am today. I enjoy working with sports related medicine such as orthopedics. Additionally, I love to work with kids and to give them second chances would be incredible. I hope to be able to blend the two passions once I become a physician.
- About: I would consider myself an outgoing person. I am always willing to try new things or experiences. I love some good coffee or tea and book to curl up with on the couch. I spend significant time at the gym, CrossFit Cadre, where I coach CrossFit class as well as exercise myself. It is one of passions and I love it deeply. I also love to do anything outdoors such as hike, swim, bike, etc. I am a tree hugger at heart and will tell you to recycle things or walk more often. - About: I am a first generation college student and also a war refugee from Bosnia. I moved to the U.S in 2001. I am fluent in 5 languages (English, Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, Montenegrin). You can usually find me either in a research lab in the chemistry department researching with Dr. Fenk or at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General researching with OhioStroke. You can also find me at my internship at the International Institute of Akron where I help resettle refugees and other related processes. If I'm not at one of those locations and I'm not studying or doing something with PhiDE, then there's a really good chance I'm at the gym. I will be applying traditionally to medical school this summer and hopefully will be attending medical school in the Fall of 2021!

- About: I am a current Junior at Kent State University and this is my third semester being in PhiDE. I am one of those people who cannot study unless it is dead quiet, so you can find me on the eighth floor of the library (without covid rules). I also like to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity on the weekends, and would be glad to show anyone what gets done at the Restore here in Kent. I also volunteer at UH Portage as well. If I am not studying or volunteering, then I am either sleeping, working out, or hanging out with friends. ● About: It took me a long time to decide on being a physician because I also struggled with thinking that I wasn’t good enough to be one. After switching my major about 4 times I realized that it all centered around the medical field and that I really just wanted to help people. Around fall 2019 I got a job as an emergency room technician/nursing assistant and I absolutely fell in love with Emergency Medicine. It scared me the first couple of days and I admittedly cried in the middle of a trauma room my first night but I absolutely loved it. In Fall 2020 I transferred to Kent State and I am so happy and grateful that I did. Although we are still dealing with a Pandemic I was able to find people that shared as much passion about becoming a physician as I was. I’m so excited to see what PhiDE has in store for me as well as all the lifelong friendships I can take with me outside of my undergraduate career.

- About: I joined PhiDE my sophomore year after switching my major to biology/pre-med and I instantly gained so many meaningful friendships. I am very active in our fraternity and I love planning recruitment events. When I’m not busy with PhiDE commitments, I spend my time volunteering at Summa Hospital, volunteering at the women’s shelter, working as an STNA, shadowing a hometown OB/GYN, or studying for my classes. When that gets to be too overwhelming, I find cooking, hanging out with friends, and listening to music to be great stress-relievers. In the future, I hope to attend medical school and ultimately grow my passion for women's health.

- About: As spring comes to a close and June nears, I bubble with excitement hoping to see a swarm of people milling under the sun and crossing paths with past friends. The farmer’s market is what I look forward to every year to stock up on picnic supplies and lugging along my camera, art supplies, maybe a book and sometimes some company to spend my day by the river. If I’m lucky, my family and I spend a few weeks visiting Jordan which is the only place that feels like home. It never fails to motivate me when I am enveloped with stories coming from my many family members about all the good my past relatives have done and reminding me that living in the U.S has made me forgetful of how much work the world is in desperate need of. Choosing a pre-med path is one of the many important steps in helping alleviate the stress the world is under. Wholeheartedly give people the care they need through empathy and undivided attention and you pave a way for them to do what they desire. This will provide the world with more doctors, more environmentalists, inventors, writers, teachers, etc. and allow for the inclusion of a multitude of perspectives when important decisions are considered. I am mostly interested in doctors without borders but hope to practice my niche in many settings!

- About: The first six months of my life began in Yaroslavl, Russia. My brother and I were adopted as virtual twins and have been in Kent since. I decided to major in neuroscience because I am fascinated by how little is known about the brain and am contemplating minoring in philosophy or chemistry. During the limited free time college seems to offer me, I spend time with my friends, volunteer with hospice, play guitar, and weightlift.

●About: I am Sophomore at Kent State University who is part of the AFROTC program here at Kent, and I want to pursue a career in the medical field in the military. For the Air Force I hope to be part of Special Operations Surgical Team (SOST) or become a flight surgeon in the Air Force because I always wanted to be on the front lines of battle but as a pacifist, I wanted to help injured soldiers. I am an active member of the fraternity, still trying to get the hang of the meetings and the collaboration efforts we have, but I know my hard work in this group will pay off. I am still trying to get some more shadowing done before the end of the semester, I have started to shadow social workers, nurses, and doctors at a hospice house near Cleveland. I hope to expand my experience by volunteering at different hospitals throughout the semester, while also shadowing some trauma surgeons, and pathologists on the side. While I’m not working, I am usually reading books that range from self-help books, fictional, and sci-fi. I also enjoy working out on the side, specifically running, swimming, and biking; hopefully one day do a triathlon in order to prepare for the military.

● About: I transferred to Kent State in 2020 from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and am a current junior. I am a people’s person and love getting to know any and all types of individuals. I figured out that I wanted to go into pediatric psychiatry after getting hands on experience with mental illness in children, ultimately developing my passion. I hope to make an impact in kids and parents lives to the best of my ability. I currently volunteer at Townhall 2 in Kent and am beginning to volunteer at Summa Health in Akron. In my free time, I enjoy adventuring and hanging out with my friends and boyfriend. My favorite thing to do right now is go snowboarding in NY. Why can nobody fix a broken bone given only stability in time? I am enticed by these questions and not only hope to learn the ways of the world but also hope to help others understand.
